Isopropyl Alcohol 70/30
8241 Technical Data Sheet
8241-Liquid
Description
Isopropyl alcohol is a multipurpose cleaner and solvent. It is fully miscible in water and a large variety of
solvents, making it good at dissolving dirt, dust, greases, and light organic contaminants. It is quick
drying relative to water alone, disinfects surfaces, and leaves no residue. As it dries, it gives off a light
alcohol odor, which is not bothersome but serves as a cue to limit over-exposure due to poor ventilation.
Applications & Usages
Since it is paint, metal, and plastic safe, the 8241 alcohol solution is widely used to clean a variety of
electronic equipment and peripherals. It is great for cleaning stencils, fiber optics, cables, keypads,
contact pins, and more. Further, many customers use it to clean DVD or CDs. Another use is to wash off
harsher organic solvents like acetone or toluene that might otherwise damage the surface.
A
TTENTION
!
For LCD screens, use the specially formulated MG 8242 screen cleaners instead. For optics,
use the MG 8243 lens cleaner formulation.

Compatibility
It is generally compatible with plastics, paints, rubbers, and plant fibers. Do not use for LCD and optics
since these 70% v/v solution is often too strong for antiglare coatings often associated with screen and
optics. For such LCDs and optics, use the 8242 and 8243 series of cleaning products respectively.
